Manchester United Renew Pursuit of Bayern Star Kim Min-jae
Manchester United are once again eyeing a move for Kim Min-jae, reigniting their interest in the South Korean centre-back after missing out on him in 2023 when he joined Bayern Munich instead.
According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, both Man United and Liverpool are monitoring Kim closely, with talks of a possible summer transfer gaining traction.
Bayern signed the 28-year-old by activating a £43 million release clause** in his Napoli contract last July.
Though he had a slow start, Kim eventually became a key figure in Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga title-winning squad, before an Achilles injury late in the season put his future in question.
Despite having three years remaining on his deal with Bayern, the recent arrival of Jonathan Tah has cast doubt on Kim’s place in the squad.
With United set to part ways with defenders like Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans, new manager Rúben Amorim** could view Kim as an ideal reinforcement at the back.
Christian Falk also noted that Kim has drawn attention from clubs in Saudi Arabia, and while no formal offers have been made yet, Bayern are open to letting him leave. Both **United and Liverpool are said to be keeping a close watch on the situation.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano previously revealed Kim was one of United’s top defensive targets in the 2023 window, and Italian reports even suggested personal terms had been agreed before Bayern swooped in.
Now, it looks like Manchester United are back in the race for Kim Min-jae.
