Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with an official announcement expected within the next week, according to talkSPORT journalist Anil Kandola.
The Red Devils have been pursuing the Cameroon international for several weeks, and negotiations appear to be in the final stages after multiple discussions.
Despite rumors linking Mbeumo with a potential reunion with former Brentford boss and current Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, the 25-year-old is keen on a move to Old Trafford. Finalizing personal terms and reaching an agreement with Brentford is expected to be straightforward in the coming days
Meanwhile, Paraguayan sensation Diego Leon is set to officially join Manchester United on July 1, as reported by VSports Team.
United secured a pre-contract agreement with the highly rated left-back during the winter, following a successful round of medicals. He has now signed a five-year deal and will officially link up with the club next month.
Leon is considered a promising young talent, though he couldn’t be registered in January due to being only 17, in line with post-Brexit regulations that restrict Premier League clubs from signing underage foreign players. The pre-agreement ensured United didn’t miss out on securing his services.
The 18-year-old has made just 33 senior appearances for Cerro Porteño but has impressed with his defensive performances.
This season, he’s averaged over four duels won per game, along with 2.7 recoveries, 2.6 clearances, and more than one successful tackle per match.
While still developing, particularly in his ball control, Leon shows great potential and could soon compete for a spot in United’s senior squad.
His arrival raises questions about the future of Harry Amass, who filled in admirably for Patrick Dorgu at left wing-back earlier this year. If Leon is promoted to the senior setup, Amass may be loaned out next season to gain valuable experience.
Leon’s signing could also signal a permanent exit for Tyrell Malacia. The Dutch full-back ended last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven and may leave Manchester United permanently this summer.
