Deal Done: Manchester United have finalized personal terms with one of football’s brightest talents, signing him until 2029. Ruben Amorim is set to welcome his third signing of the summer soon.
The Red Devils have reportedly shown interest in Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku as they search for a new centre-forward to lead their attack next season.
Rasmus Hojlund struggled this campaign, scoring just four Premier League goals, and is attracting interest from Serie A clubs, especially Inter Milan.
With Hojlund potentially on his way out, Manchester United are aiming to bring in a more clinical forward. They’ve been linked with several strikers recently, including Liam Delap (now at Chelsea), Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko, Dusan Vlahovic, and Hugo Ekitike.
New reports from L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi reveal Man United have made initial contact with Nkunku’s representatives to gather information, though no official bid has been submitted yet.
The club plans to sign at least two more forwards this summer, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo also high on their list.
Nkunku, who moved to Chelsea for £50 million in 2023, hasn’t yet secured a regular starting spot despite praise from manager Enzo Maresca and Thierry Henry, who called him a joy to watch. The Frenchman is keen on leaving Chelsea this summer.
This season, Nkunku appeared 43 times across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists. His versatility allows him to play as a centre-forward, winger, or attacking midfielder.
Since Manchester United have already signed Matheus Cunha for the No.10 role and may soon add Mbeumo, Nkunku is expected to slot in as a striker in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
