Manchester United Assessing Move for Rising European Striker Hugo Ekitike
Manchester United are reportedly evaluating a possible transfer for Hugo Ekitike, one of Europe’s most highly rated young forwards, as part of their summer striker search.
United Enter Ekitike Transfer Race
With new manager Rúben Amorim overseeing a rebuild at Old Trafford, the club is intensifying efforts to strengthen its attack after a disappointing league season that yielded just 44 goals in 38 matches.
While Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres remains a top priority—having thrived under Amorim—United have now also set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, United have made formal contact with Frankfurt in the last 48 hours to express serious interest and inquire about the conditions of a deal. Plettenberg also noted that Liverpool and Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation.
Ekitike, 21, enjoyed a standout season with 22 goals and 13 assists, playing a key role in securing Champions League football for Frankfurt. With four years left on his contract, the Bundesliga side is believed to value him at around £85 million.
Transfer Race Intensifies as Arsenal Eye Gyökeres
At the same time, Arsenal have reportedly made their opening bid for Gyökeres during a recent meeting in Spain.
According to Record, the bid included Arsenal’s sporting director and legal representatives, while A Bola claims Sporting CP rejected the offer, which fell just short of the €70 million (£60m + £10m in add-ons) asking price.
Talks are expected to continue, and while Arsenal push forward with Gyökeres, Manchester United’s pursuit of Ekitike signals a growing urgency to secure firepower ahead of the new season.
