Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala suffered a serious injury during their Club World Cup quarter-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain, sidelining the 22-year-old attacker for an extended period.
The injury happened when PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma collided with Musiala, trapping his ankle in the challenge.
Kompany’s Outrage
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany voiced his anger and disappointment over the incident, saying it made his “blood boil.”
He described the injury as a harsh setback for Musiala, who had just recently returned from a previous injury. Kompany stressed the team’s need to grow stronger and fight on behalf of Musiala.
Neuer’s Reproach
Bayern captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer criticized Donnarumma, accusing him of failing to prevent the injury. Neuer felt Donnarumma’s tackle showed disrespect, both in the challenge itself and his lack of concern afterward.
He highlighted the importance of fair play and said he would have acted differently in such a situation.
A Difficult Day for Bayern
Musiala’s injury added to Bayern’s woes as they lost 2-0 to PSG, who secured victory despite having two players sent off late in the match.
Desire Doue scored the winning goal by outmaneuvering Neuer after Harry Kane was dispossessed in the middle of the pitch.
